![]() I hope that everyone who is a teacher in Peru has a wonderful day off if they work for a public school and a wonderful day in general even if they are working. Teacher’s Day is without a doubt the most fun day of the year for us teachers here in Peru. She has been very good with Leah and I appreciate all she does for her. I made these last year.) I gave her two gifts because today is her birthday as well. ![]() I ate way too much food.įinally, as a gift for my daughter’s teacher, I gave her a mini handheld massager from RadioShack and a two pack of notepads from Lali Spihlmann. We are spoiled beyond compare at our school. We only had a half day of school that was all celebration and fun and then we went to La Bistecca for a buffet lunch. I would like to be better at African and European geography myself.īack to the celebration! We were given lovely Kipling wallets and toiletry bags by our head principal and a few other gifts as well. I still think it is never too early to learn geography. I taught them where the United States is on the world map as well as where Peru is but distance is pretty difficult for them to imagine at their age. How sweet is that? I love that they think I live in the United States and travel to Peru every day to teach them. You are funny and we have a lot of fun with you. We like it when you greet us with Rosie the Rabbit. You put on English videos for us and you teach us stories and have us color. Miss Amy B., You live in the United States and you teach us English songs. The administrative staff put on a wonderful show with singing and dancing and costumes for the whole school and in kinder we each got a personalized card written by the girls. We received red alpaca eternity scarves from the PTA and had what they call a “compartir” or sharing of treats in the community center after mass. We had our traditional mass in the morning even though the father was not able to give a sermon. Speaking of incredible, our teacher’s day celebration at school was super fun and impressive as always. All the more reason I feel terrible for the miscommunication. They are so incredibly wonderful and are very understanding when Leah is sick and I have to stay home. This is definitely not a common occurrence so hopefully I won’t be in too much hot water at work. Sometimes things like this happen and you have to do what you have to do. I can’t spend all day beating myself up though. She tends to be really good at communicating through that medium. However, a whatsapp reminder would have been great from the teacher. I understand that I didn’t get the note home on Monday because Leah did not go to class that day and yesterday was their teacher’s day celebration so no one though to give me a call or write a note stating that there would be no class today. I dislike when I let others down but I dislike being misinformed or uninformed by my daughter’s school even more. I bit the bullet and stayed home with my baby girl today. Also, throwing a toddler on an army wife mom who already has kids staying home due to the national holiday is really difficult unless that friend is a close one. I completely understand and I wish I could have found someone to leave Leah with but unfortunately, all my contacts were busy. I, on the other hand, got a stern text from my boss stating that everyone has an important role to play at work and it is affects the teachers and students when I am not there. ![]() Unfortunately, he didn’t make it on time but by some stroke of luck he did not get in trouble for it. Not only did this cause me to turn around immediately and hop on the first bus back home but it also set off of chain of phone calls that ultimately ended up with Leah being dropped off at an army wife friend’s house for 15 minutes so my husband could get to his roll call. I was supposed to work today but as I was climbing the stairs at my stop on the metropolitano, I received a phone call from my husband sounding desperate and frustrated at the door of the nursery that was not open due to the Ministry of Education declaring the day a national holiday. Una cosa semejante no existe en Alemania, pero sí existía en la República Democrática Alemana y se llamaba "Tag des Lehrers".
